Privacy and data handling
What TwitterDL sends when you submit a public X post link, how media is retrieved, and our hosting and log retention policy.
Updated
What do you send when I submit a link?
The browser sends the submitted post URL and selected language to https://api.twitterdl.fyi/api/media or /api/text. Submit only public post links. Do not paste private messages, credentials, or links containing sensitive information. The service validates the host and numeric post ID before requesting post metadata.
Where does the post information come from?
The API requests metadata from X’s cdn.syndication.twimg.com using the post ID and language. For long text posts it may request the full text from api.fxtwitter.com. Those services receive the request from the API server. Your browser contacts X media hosts to preview and download videos and photos, so those hosts receive your network address and request information.
What happens to a text card?
Post text, author details, and available date are returned to your browser. The PNG card is rendered in your browser. The application code has no database or saved-card account system; this does not establish a retention policy for the hosting network or server logs.
Does the site use cookies or analytics?
The frontend application does not set analytics or advertising cookies and does not include third-party advertising or analytics scripts. Hosting and network services may process connection information under their own policies.
How long are logs retained?
For security, troubleshooting, and service reliability, we may collect technical information including IP addresses, request timestamps, requested URLs, browser user agents, and server errors. Access, error, security, and application logs are each retained for up to 7 days. Logs are automatically deleted after their retention periods unless longer retention is necessary for security investigations or legal obligations. Infrastructure providers may maintain additional logs under their own privacy and retention policies.
Which infrastructure providers process requests?
The website is hosted on Cloudflare, with servers located in the United States. Cloudflare processes website requests. The retrieval API uses X and, for some long posts, FxTwitter as upstream sources. These providers may maintain additional logs under their own policies.
Who is responsible for this service?
