Fix busy and upstream download errors
Understand busy, upstream_rate_limit, upstream_timeout, and other temporary retrieval errors.
Updated
What does busy mean?
The API limits simultaneous work. A busy response means it cannot start another retrieval at that moment. Wait briefly and try once more rather than opening many tabs or repeatedly pressing Download.
What is an upstream error?
The service depends on external sources for post metadata. A rate limit, timeout, connection problem, or unexpected response can interrupt a download even when the URL is correct. Retry later; changing a filename or clearing local storage does not fix a remote outage.
How do I distinguish a local problem?
Try a full browser rather than X’s in-app browser. If other websites also fail, check your network. If only one post fails, check that post’s access and attachments. Avoid automated repeated requests, which can worsen rate limiting.
